Under those oppressive circumstances, in the mood of alienation, fear and anxiety created by constant unnecessary competition and war, you cannot make any tangible spiritual advancement. So why do you go on with this mind- and soul-numbing existence, intolerable to any sane human being? Because you think there is no alternative.
Yet there is: you can walk away from the vicious, greedy corporations and their lifelong debt-slavery program. You can disappear, go off the radar, stop supporting the bankers and the tax men. You can create an Esoteric Teaching Bridge Community, form a nonprofit corporation, stop doing business as an individual and start doing business as a spiritual community. You can move to a country like Mexico where the weather is nicer, prices are cheaper and there is less intrusive surveillance. We have done it, and you can too.
But most people are weak and lazy; they want to stay in their comfortable deck chair on the Titanic as long as possible. Their sense of situational awareness has atrophied. They do not want to accept responsibility and risk, or do the difficult emotional and conceptual labor required to change their artificial inbred ways of thinking and living. They remain content with their high-rent, irresponsible lifestyle of sense gratification and go on dreaming that the system, the government, somebody will save them. But who is going to save you? Superman? The Lone Ranger? Santa Claus?
Come on, wake up and smell the incense. The real truth is that no one is going to save you; they will be too busy trying to save themselves in the coming systemic collapse. You have to take responsibility for your own well-being and spiritual progress. The situation on this planet is about to go from bad to worse—much worse—and the Iceland volcano is just the beginning. Just wait until volcanoes start going off in the US!
I have been making predictions for years now, and so far every one has turned out to be correct. I am not happy predicting so much suffering and problems for everyone, but that is the nature of the material world. I am trying my best to educate everyone in the real facts of life, and those who have accepted my advice are safe, happy and making great advancement. You must have a plan to get out of material existence; this is the first priority of actual sane human existence.
So how long are you going to remain "unfortunate and attached"? Until it's too late? For your own well-being, you must take action now. There is so very little time left."The path of this material world is full of material miseries, and various troubles disturb the conditioned souls. Sometimes he loses, and sometimes he gains. In either case, the path is full of danger. Sometimes the conditioned soul is separated from his father by death or other circumstances. Leaving him aside he gradually becomes attached to others, such as his children. In this way, the conditioned soul is sometimes illusioned and afraid. Sometimes he cries loudly out of fear. Sometimes he is happy maintaining his family, and sometimes he is overjoyed and sings melodiously. In this way he becomes entangled and forgets his separation from the Supreme Personality of Godhead since time immemorial. Thus he traverses the dangerous path of material existence, and on this path he is not at all happy. Those who are self-realized simply take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in order to get out of this dangerous material existence. Without accepting the devotional path, one cannot get out of the clutches of material existence. The conclusion is that no one can be happy in material life. One must take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Saintly persons, who are friends to all living entities, have a peaceful consciousness. They have controlled their senses and minds, and they easily attain the path of liberation, the path back to Godhead. Being unfortunate and attached to the miserable material conditions, a materialistic person cannot associate with them." [Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 5.14.38-39]
