Near the end of the 19th century, a small group of sages met in a small village near the bank of the sacred Ganges. After the usual formal greetings, prayers and devotional chants, they turned their attention to the most pressing problem facing their ancient Vedic ways of spiritual life.
The leader voiced their concern: “Western materialistic culture is a disturbance and danger to the spiritual health of humanity; therefore it must be neutralized.” The delegates nodded in agreement. After much contemplation, prayer and sacred ceremony, they agreed on a solution.
One of the sages volunteered to invoke a powerful yogic process and create a son who would become, in essence, a memetic weapon. This son and his disciples would write books on Vedic philosophy and religion that, when seeded in elite Western academic circles, would defeat and disempower Western thought and theology at their roots, causing a global revolution in spiritual realization.
The wise men bade one another farewell and went to their homes. After some time, a powerful and intelligent boy took birth in the family of the sage. He became completely conversant with all fields of knowledge, both Western scientific thought and philosophy, and the eternal wisdom of the Vedas. He made important literary and scientific contributions to Vedic culture and religion, and sent his first disciples to teach in the West.
Finally, in 1966 his spiritual successor traveled from Mumbai to New York on a tramp freighter. Within a decade, he established a worldwide federation of temples, rural farm communities and ashrams. His books on esoteric Vedic philosophy found their way into the libraries of every important university in the world. His global following guaranteed that his books would be studied seriously by Western scholars.
In this way, the sages of India planted the seed of a worldwide revolution in spiritual thought. It is too late; our Brotherhood has successfully inoculated thought virus of the Esoteric Teaching into mainstream of Western theological dialog at the highest level. The operation was successful beyond their most optimistic expectations, and by now the thought virus is spreading rapidly, its impact being felt in every area of Western thought.
